Intensive Outpatient Programs allow you to meet your life’s daily obligations while getting your addiction under control. Meetings occur at our facility multiple times per week with various therapies designed for your success. You’ll work with your designated professional to help you choose, manage, and maintain the therapies you need for your best chance at long-term success.

Therapies can include health, nutrition, yoga, life coaching, cognitive behavioral therapy, and more. IOP allows you to layout your path to recovery with the help of an experienced, professional therapist.


12-Steps with a Sponsor

The 12-step programs address addiction with a different approach. It offers a community of people with the same addictions, taking the same steps to get the addiction under control. Instead of a therapist, a sponsor, someone who has successfully gone through the 12 steps, is your mentor.

The boundaries you would have with a sponsor are similar to those with your therapist. While they are experienced in the same journey you are going through and are very supportive, they are your sponsor, and these boundaries must be respected. The 12 steps are the same for everyone with your addiction, and therefore, your support is abundant.

Addiction Treatment Therapy vs. 12-Steps

Family support is always encouraged regardless of your approach to your recovery. Addiction treatment therapy and 12-Step programs are very similar in this way. A good substance abuse treatment center will empower you with knowledge and choices. You won’t feel alone on your journey.

If you feel that a tailor-made plan created with you by a licensed and experienced therapist will be the most comfortable for you, IOP is a great option. Many people find that a well-rounded group of therapies help solidify their recovery.

However, should you decide that the 12-step programs make the most sense to you, along with a community of support and your loved ones, you can pursue meetings as well.

IOP vs. 12-Step Time Duration

Nobody wants to be held captive by addiction. That’s why you’re here, right? Recovery is possible, but it’s also likely if you’re wholly committed to your process. No matter how long it takes, it’s worth it.

Everyone is different, and so is each recovery. No timeline can be placed on something so important for your well-being. Recovery, no matter what method or process you choose, is about lifelong recovery and should be treated with patience, even more patience after a while.

With that being said, both programs take roughly about the same amount of time to get through — about 12 weeks. You may be attending 90 meetings in 90 days with the 12-step program or several meetings multiple times per week in an IOP. Having a support system in place will increase your chances of success in life-long recovery.
