Arizona Medicaid (AHCCCS) Addiction Treatment
AHCCCS is Arizona’s Medicaid program. This makes it a federal health care program funded both by the federal and state government. It exists to provide health care for individuals and families who qualify if their income level is below the Federal Poverty Level.
In general, AHCCCS covers treatment for substance use disorder, which is the medical term for addiction.
The behavioral health services generally covered include Behavioral health day programs — supervised, therapeutic, and medical variations—crisis services — mobile team services, telephone crisis response, and urgent care—also, hospital, sub-acute, and residential treatment.
Rehabilitation services — living skills, cognitive rehabilitation, supported employment, and education support. Support services – case management, personal assistance, family and peer support, therapeutic foster care, housing support, interpreter services, transportation, assistance in accessing resources, locating and applying for benefits, and child care. Treatment services – counseling, consultations, assessment and specialized testing, and substance abuse treatment.
